What makes Next Generation Transitions so much better than other VTO (photochromic) lenses?
Next Generation Transitions are the clearest, darkest, fastest VTO (photochromic) lenses ever developed. The technology they use is the most advanced lens technology available, a combination of newly developed dyes and advanced plastic materials.
Who should I recommend Next Generation Transitions to?
- Anyone who currently wears VTO (photochromic) lenses because Next Generation Transitions are darker, clearer and faster than any other VTO (photochromic) lenses.
- Anyone who currently wears regular lenses because Next Generation Transitions are virtually as clear as regular lenses indoors and since they adjust to the light, they’re more comfortable in any light condition.
Should I recommend Next Generation Transitions to parents for their kids?
Absolutely. Next Generation Transitions give kids versatility and increased vision comfort, and since they offer 100% UV protection, parents can feel good about their kids wearing them.
Can Next Generation Transitions be worn while playing sports?
Yes. Next Generation Transitions can be worn anyplace and for any activity regular lenses would be worn. They’re made with scratch resistant plastic so they offer superior shock and impact resistance, and they’re lightweight. And since they get as dark as sunglasses in bright sunlight and offer 100% UV protection, new Transitions are great for outdoor activities and sports.
Can Next Generation Transitions replace sunglasses?
Even though they get as dark as sunglasses, Next Generation Transitions are not meant to replace sunglasses. Sunglasses are specialty products for specific uses. By contrast, Next Generation Transitions are worn everyday, whenever regular lenses are worn, to enable patients to see more comfortably in any light condition.
Can Next Generation Transitions replace regular lenses?
Yes. Next Generation Transitions are virtually as clear as regular lenses indoors, so they are meant to be everyday, all-the-time lenses. In fact, in a recent clinical study, 4 out of 5 eyeglass wearers preferred Transitions to their regular lenses.
Do Next Generation Transitions perform well in hot temperatures?
Yes, and they work much better than other VTO (photochromic) lenses. Next Generation Transitions are less affected by temperature extremes than Transitions III and other VTO (photochromic) lenses, so they’re able to get darker no matter what the temperature.
Do they work in very cold temperatures?
Next Generation Transitions get darker than Transitions III. However, like in hot conditions, Next Generation Transitions are less affected by temperature variations than other VTO (photochromic) lenses
Can Next Generation Transitions be worn while driving?
Yes. They can be worn anywhere and doing anything that would normally require regular lenses, such as driving.
How about for night driving?
Absolutely. Next Generation Transitions are suitable for any activity that would normally require regular lenses, which includes driving at night. As with regular lenses, adding an anti-reflective coating to Transitions Lenses may make driving at night more comfortable.
How long do Next Generation Transitions continue to work and how well do they perform over their lifespan?
Next Generation Transitions is three times more resistant to fatigue than Transitions III. Next Generation Transitions sustain a much better level of clarity over time (reduced level of yellowness) and they continue to get as dark as sunglasses for a longer period versus Transitions III. In fact, Next Generation Transitions will usually
outlast the lifetime of a patient's prescription.
Do Next Generation Transitions protect against harmful UV rays?
Yes. Whether Next Generation Transitions are clear or sunglass dark, they provide 100% protection from both UVa and UVb rays (using both ISO and ANSI test methods). Transitions keep eyes fully protected even on overcast days when the sun isn’t bright but can still cause damage.
Can Next Generation Transitions be worn while working on a computer?
Yes. Next Generation Transitions are perfect for this type of activity. In any situation where regular lenses were worn, Next Generation Transitions can be worn to enable people to see more comfortably.
Can I use a UV lamp to demonstrate how well Next Generation Transitions perform?
Yes. In fact, Next Generation Transitions get much darker under a UV lamp versus Transitions III and other VTO (photochromic) lenses.
Does anti-reflective coating affect how Next Generation Transitions perform?
AR coating improves light transmission, much like it does on regular lenses. With standard AR, Next Generation Transitions can be improved by as much as 6% (depending on the AR applied). In fact, with AR, Next Generation Transitions are actually clearer than a clear, hard coated CR39 lens.
Can Next Generation Transitions be treated with AR and hard coat treatments?
Yes. Like Transitions III, Next Generation Transitions are compatible with AR and hard coat treatments.
Can Next Generation Transitions be tinted?
Of course. Treat Transitions Lenses no different than you would clear products of similar materials. Tinting will not adversely effect the photochromic performance but since Transitions Lenses change color, a tint may change the final activated color.
Are Next Generation Transitions available in any index and for any prescription?
Next Generation Transitions will be available in 1.5 index, by far the most commonly used VTO (photochromic) plastic lens material on the market.
Transitions also offers superior performance in the latest technology in other materials (polycarbonate, medium and high index).
Prescription options will be similar to what’s currently available for Transitions III.
Are Next Generation Transitions limited to any specific eyeglass frames?
No. They can be fitted in any type of frame similar to any 1.5 index lenses.
What colors do Next Generation Transitions come in?
They’re currently available in brown and gray.
What is the technology used in Next Generation Transitions ?
- The technology used in Next Generation Transitions is a combination of new high-performance photochromic dyes and a new polymer, CR-607, that forms the lens substrate.
- This combination of the latest technology in monomers, casting and photochromics results in the clearest, darkest and fastest photochromic lens available.
How does Next Generation Transitions work behind the windshield ?
All photochromic lenses are activated by the ultra violet rays. Windshields block UV rays. Therefore no photochromic lens will deliver a high level of activation behind a windshield. However, Next Generation, is activating slightly better behind a windshield than competitive lenses.
